Childhood Remastered: Episode 56 – The Road to El Dorado

The 2000 film The Road to El Dorado was the only film by Dreamworks to ever not make a profit. But why? With a star studded cast, and a soundtrack by Elton John, you would think this would have done better against Erin Brockovich’s third weekend. Could it have been the multiple story edits that drastically changed the direction and actions of the characters? Could it have been the hyper-sexualization of some of it’s characters? Perhaps it was because of some of the controversy surrounding the project. Or…Maybe it was a combination of all of the above. In the end, not many people saw this movie upon release including the both of us. However, after 17 years, is it worth a revisit? Take a listen and find out!
